According the grapevine at PCGames, Intel is temporarily halting the production of their first 14nm chipset, the chipset known as ‘H310’.
Current Intel chipsets are produced on a 22nm process. The new H310 chipset, which is aimed at budget PCs, is the first to move over to the smaller 14nm process. Offering possible improvements in speed, power consumption and lower production costs.
According to sources spoken to by PCGames, the production of the H310 chipset is temporarily halted. Other 14nm chipsets like the H370, B360 and Q370 chipsets are still being produced. The enthousiast aimed Z370 chipset, which launched in October last year, is not affected as it is still being produced at 22nm.
Sources mention that the manufacturing stop would be in place until at least July 2018. Motherboard manufacturers are forced to switch to other, more expensive chipset for their production needs.
Intel’s production issues
These production issues at Intel’s facilities could be caused by the delays of Intel’s next generation 10nm process, forcing Intel to use more 14nm facilities.
