The newly announced Atari VCS is Atari’s re-entry into the gaming console market and will be inspired by the blockbuster Atari 2600 console from the 1980s. The new console is a completely new connected gaming device, designed in California by Atari powered by AMD.
AMD provides custom processor and GPU
The company has partnered with AMD to provide the Atari VCS with a custom processor and Radeon Graphics Technology.
Atari VCS features
The new platform will offer support for 4K resolution, HDR and 60FPS content, onboard and expandable storage options, dual-band WiFi and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as USB 3.0 support. Full specifications will be released at a pre-sale at the end of May with actual delivery scheduled in spring 2019.
